Some songs really take us back. Some rhythms bring us together. And sometimes, a shared melody or a simple beat creates a connection that words cannot express.
On Friday, 9 October 2026, Schola Nova, in collaboration with PsychCare, hosted Islamabad’s First Community Sing-Along and Open-Air Dinner at Schola Nova, #5, Street 8, F-8/3, Islamabad. Organised in recognition of World Mental Health Day, the gathering brought people together for an evening of music, shared memories, interactive activities and meaningful connections.
Featuring singing performances by multiple participants, an engaging drum circle activity, the presence of distinguished Chief Guest Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Member of the National Assembly (MNA), and an open-air dinner, the event celebrated the importance of community, participation and mental well-being.

A Community Sing-Along Filled with Familiar Melodies
Music has a unique ability to connect people across generations. A familiar song can bring back cherished memories, remind us of special moments and create a sense of belonging.
The Community Sing-Along was built around this simple but powerful idea: bringing people together through the songs they know and the memories they share.
Throughout the evening, multiple participants took part in singing performances, sharing their voices and contributing to a welcoming, lively atmosphere. The music encouraged guests to enjoy familiar melodies, appreciate one another’s performances and experience the joy of participating in a shared activity.
The evening was not simply about listening to songs. It was about creating a space where people could reconnect with memories, enjoy the present moment and make new ones together.
پرانے گیت، نئی یادیں، دل کی کچھ باتیں…
This sentiment captured the spirit of the gathering, reminding everyone that music can be a wonderful starting point for conversation, connection and shared experiences.
Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Joins as Chief Guest
A significant highlight of the event was the presence of Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Member of the National Assembly (MNA), as Chief Guest.
His attendance added distinction to the occasion, bringing further attention to a community gathering centred on music, social connection and mental well-being.
The event created an opportunity for attendees to come together beyond their everyday routines, share experiences and participate in an evening dedicated to building stronger community connections.

Finding Our Rhythm: The Drum Circle Activity
One of the interactive highlights of the evening was the Drum Circle Activity, which brought participants together through rhythm, sound and collective participation. 🥁
Unlike a conventional musical performance, a drum circle invites people to become part of the music themselves. Each beat contributes to a shared rhythm, creating an experience in which everyone has a part to play.
The activity added an engaging, participatory element to the evening. As participants explored rhythms and responded to one another’s beats, the experience highlighted the value of listening, cooperation and contributing to something together.
Drum circles can also offer opportunities for creative expression, mindful participation and social connection. In the context of a World Mental Health Day gathering, the activity provided a meaningful way to explore togetherness through a shared musical experience.
Different beats came together to create one collective rhythm, reflecting an important message: everyone has something to contribute, and connections grow when we make space for one another.

Different beats. One shared rhythm. A stronger sense of connection.
Celebrating World Mental Health Day Through Community
World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to raise awareness, encourage meaningful conversations and recognise the importance of mental well-being in everyday life.
Mental health awareness is not limited to formal discussions. Welcoming community spaces, creative activities and opportunities to spend meaningful time with others can also help encourage connection and belonging.
The Community Sing-Along brought this idea to life through music, singing and interactive participation. Rather than focusing solely on presentations or speeches, the gathering invited people to experience connection through shared activities.
The combination of familiar songs, collective rhythms and informal conversations reflected the importance of creating opportunities for people to come together, feel included and enjoy positive social experiences.

An Open-Air Dinner Bringing People Together
As the musical activities brought energy to the gathering, the open-air dinner offered guests an opportunity to relax and continue connecting in a welcoming environment.
Sharing a meal creates space for conversations that might not happen during a formal programme. Guests could spend time together, exchange stories and enjoy the sense of community that made the evening special.
The dinner complemented the singing and drum circle activities, bringing together music, food and conversation in one shared experience.
Together, these elements made the event more than an evening of entertainment. They created an opportunity to pause, reconnect with others and appreciate the value of shared experiences.
